It is possible to go to Slovenia all the year round: in the winter in Slovenia alpine skiing rest in resorts is offered: Bled, Bokhin, Kransk mountain, Krvavets, Maribor; in the summer – at the sea, in the fall and in the early spring a wide choice of medical resorts with mineral sources. In the sea and in mountain lakes the swimming season begins since the beginning of June and proceeds prior to the beginning of October. Favorable climate, the developed tourism infrastructure, comfortable conditions of accommodation, a set of restaurants with amazing traditional cuisine, effective treatment. Fine opportunities for active recreation are offered: surfing, underwater swimming, sailing, water-skiing, river rafting on kayaks and rafts, fishing on the transparent emerald rivers, riding, campaigns to mountains, bicycle walks, walking routes. The language barrier is practically absent.
Geography. Slovenia — the small country located in East Alps. Borders on Italy, Austria, Hungary and Croatia. In the West Slovenia has an exit to the Adriatic Sea ( near the Gulf of Trieste). The area of Slovenia makes 20,3 thousand sq.km. Slovenia — mainly the highland. In the north ridges of East Alps — Pokhorye, Karavanke, Savinskiye Alpy, Yuliyskiye Alpy with the highest point of Slovenia, the mountain Triglav 2863 m high are located. The South of the country is occupied with the northern suburb of Dinarsky uplands. There is a calcareous plateau Crassus ("Karst") with a karst relief and a world famous cave of Postoynska-Yama. Lowlands are located only in the West, at the coast of the Adriatic Sea, and in the east of the country.
Climate. Moderate and continental. In Slovenia 3 various climatic zones: Central European, Alpine and Mediterranean. In the summer average air temperature makes +21 °C, and in the winter — 0 °C. As the best months in mountains are considered September — May. The summer lasts, as a rule, since the beginning of June and until the end of October. It is the period of a swimming season at the sea and lakes of the country.
Language. State Slovenian. Many are fluent in Italian, German and English, understand Russian.

Currency. Since January, 2007 means of payment in the territory of the country is euro (Euro) equal to 100 cents. Banknotes of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 and 500 euros, and also coins of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 cents are in circulation. The tolars which remained available can be exchanged for euro in most banks of the country.
Currency exchange: Jars are opened from 8:00 till 18:00 with a break (usually — from 12:30 till 14:00) on weekdays and from 8:00 till 12:00 on Saturdays. Day off — Sunday, and in some banks — and Monday. It is possible to exchange currency in banks (the commission usually makes 1%), post offices, hotels (the highest commission — to 5%), exchange offices and travel agencies, and also at the station in Ljubljana (round the clock and without the commission). The course can vary considerably in various places.
Customs rules. Duty-free import of cigarettes — 200 pieces, hard liquors — 1 l, dry wine — 2 l is allowed, to perfumery, food, jewelry — within personal needs. Import of weapon, objects of art, products from precious metals in the quantity exceeding personal needs only with the permission of competent authorities of RS. The sum of currency which you have to have at entrance, is not determined. Import and export of foreign currency in Slovenia is not limited to the law and is not controlled by customs officers.
Stay mode. For citizens of the Russian Federation the visa regime for entrance on the territory of Slovenia is introduced. There are no restrictions for movement over the country.
Return of a tax. Foreign citizens have the right for return of a value added tax in case the price of the goods acquired in shops and taken out from Slovenia exceeds 15.000 Slovenian tolars.
Pets. When importing pets it is necessary to have the veterinary certificate with marks of the doctor on vaccination done recently against rage, both for dogs — and against a distemper. Import of puppies and kittens up to 3 months is forbidden.
Transport. The cheapest and convenient long-distance transport of Slovenia — the bus. Only by bus it is possible to reach Bled, Bokhin, Istria. In the Poppet, Rijeka, Zagreb can be reached also by bus, and by train. In Ljubljana it is possible to buy the ticket for days, but the majority prefers to pay in the bus. City transport, too bus.
